The Searching Disciple
by Robert L. Tasler
Sitting next to Proverbs, one of the most helpful of Old Testament books, is this puzzling book called Ecclesiastes. Written by the most wealthy, powerful and wise of Jewish rulers, its content may move us to ask how it can even be part of the Bible. The writer has examined everything about life and says it’s all meaningless. But God has a message for modern people: If your life is based on yourself and lived without God, it will seem meaningless. All is vanity and emptiness unless God is the center of your life. Since the author is not aware of a coming Messiah, the book also shows us how life looks without our Lord Jesus.
